As some of you may know, (one of) the other toy(s) is a K series midget that I built myself.

After recently fitting a aftermarket ECU and bumping the power up to 120 bhp (up from std 105, not bad for a 1400!) I was talked onto taking it on a track.

Here is is on the rolling road (it didn't go bang - even though it sounds like it might..) red line at 7200 :)

So down I went to Castle Coombe (sadly not organised in time enough to bring a BW35 with me - sorry Pilkie!).

Enjoy the following videos - I certainly did!

hi, I have been meaning to ask for a while did u ever frequent a forum for the rover 25/zr (not sure if I can mention the name of the forum) there was a guy on there that was going to put a k series engine in a midget but I never found out if he ever did it as I think he left the forum.

many thanks

hey coop

think that was a chap called eddy (?) maybe - not sure if he ever finished it. Certainly remember the posts. We have a lot start and don't get there for whatever reason (which is completely understandable!) There were 4 of us there at CC, so it made a pretty good day out.

It's an awesome conversion.

That looks like an insane amount of fun. I'm guessing the lighter engine means the 120bhp is driving not much more than 700kgs....

Yeah, it goes quite well. Just over 700 kg gives me about 7 seconds to 60, but feels quicker! Got it going up to about 112 on the track :)

Work on the big car is progressing well, but I've been distracted by playing with the little car again..

This time at Croft, with MGOT. Lots of Lotus es to play with too, as it was also a Lotus on Track day. In fact there was lots of quick stuff there; I wonder how the big V8 would have managed? The link is a video - I've finally got the sound sorted out to an OK level...

well look at that.

almost a year on and I'm back at Croft again

Here's another video for your enjoyment - this time I have a trailer, so I can go a bit harder...

laps 2

The midget in front has 197bhp and track tyres. Mine has 121 bhp and Uniroyal Rain tyres, which have melted and come apart a bit.

Croft weather being what it is - if you'd given it a couple of hours the rain would have come along to make the tyres feel at home! Those clouds look a bit 'promising'.

Ha! they promised and delivered a little in the middle of the day. It went very very slidy, but I did have most of the track to myself as all the Lotuses (lotii?) went and hid
