pas box

Hi there all, ive been reading lots of posts and still cant seem to find a positive answer so can someone please help?
my PAS box is leaking, from the bottom shaft seal down the side wall over the rubber bush of the front link arm and rendering the bush soft.
Can i change the seal around the shaft in situ?
I cant see this possible if the pitman arm has to be removed?
Is the power steering fluid the only type of fluid the box uses, and is the high fluid pressure going to make fluid leak faster from the bottom seal?
I have adjusted the top nut to stop play of the shaft (up down movement) when full lock reached in either direction, so maybe the box has some wear.
any help appreciated
Thanks Karl

The drop arm has to be removed, so the seal can't be replaced in-situ. The only fluid in there is the PAS fluid, and as it runs at such high pressure (especially on full lock) that will mean it will find any weaknesses in the seals.

Mine leaks too :( I have a seal kit to go in when I feel silly enough to want to take it out . Be easier I think just to fit a new box instead :)

Ron.
