Panel light dimmer

How does the above work on a 3500S ? There's a variable resistor plugged into the PCB but 2 wires go from the resistor to what I assume is a shunt? If I want to bypass this and have full brightness all the time do i just bridge the 2 pins on the PCB?

I would guess "yes" on connecting the two pins, although I don't have a 3500 diagram here. This removes the load of full brightness from the VR, extending its life. The dimmer has an actual on/ off switch attached which accomplishes this.

[Disclaimer :would really need to see the 3500 diagram as I only have 2000's here]

I can't get a close up on the rheostat schematic, but on other cars of this era the easiest way to simply connect both up wires properly (solder and heat shrink)
The panel light circuit is fused, if your unsure you could wire in a inline fuse
