Paint colours - Satin Brown for sills

In 1991 I exchaged correspondence with Malcolm Williams in Swansea who kindly and helpfully gave me a Holts Spraymatch parts number GL-31027 for me to obtain an aerosol of the satin brown paint for the sills which goes with the Huntsman sunroof and panels between the rear window and rear door quarterlights. Sadly no paint factor I have contacted recognises this number; Halfords who run the Spraymatch service have been helpful but have not been able to turn anything up. You can see how long the restoration has really taken! Does anyone have a paint reference number or can point me in the right direction, please? I'm probably happier to buy half a litre rather than an aerosol but any advice would be greatly welcomed!

I HAVE A 3500S ON A HUNTSMAN & TRYING TO FIND DEALER MATCHES ETC PROVED VERY HARD, BEING IN SCOTLAND EVEN MORE SO.

WHAT I DID WAS WENT TO THE NEAREST DEALER THAT MAKES UP COLOURS (INDEPENDANT) SHOWED HIM THE ROOF OF THE CAR & BINGO HE MATCHED THE SILL COLOUR FROM THE OLD ROVER CHARTS THAT HE HAD IN STOCK, HE MADE UP THE PAINT FOR ME IN AN AEROSOL CAN. ALSO HAMMERITE DO A BROWN WHICH IS TO THE UNTRAINED EYE PERFECT FOR THE JOB,HOPE THIS IS SOME HELP.

REGARDS JOHN

Finnigan's No 1 rust preventative paint is available in a very, very similar colour, albeit matt finish but good for under wheel arches, backs of cills etc.
Regards, John.

Cheers chaps for the helpful advice - it's annoying that I threw away the original panels years ago and they had traces of the correct colour. I had wonderd about taking a paint chart to a rally and trying to make a match!
