P6's on eBay...

not a bad 3500s, looks crusty in the usual spots but the interior looks good (exc the carpet)

Yeah, this is the car that Chris suspected was quite similiar to a 2000s.

If I remember rightly the original advert stated it was to go to a loving home, rather than some opportunist out to make some easy money from taking everything off it worth anything.

He insisted he was the loving home to the owner who'd had it for 25 years or so :(
Apparently he's too busy to follow through on the project now  Amazing he found the time to sell the wheels, fogs, tool kit, badge bar, service pack  He's even got time to deliver it

Exactly my point, it was obviously something a bit special and someone's pride and joy at some point.

Buy it as a prospective loving owner and pull everything you can off it to make some quick money, just pretty low in my opinion, at least be honest with your intentions.

Just emailed the previous owner telling him the 'remains' of his lovely car are back on eBay.

Will see if he replies...

Well got a reply from the original seller

Thanks for the message, I'm already aware of it, as are all the members of the Classic Rover Forum. Not a popular guy!!!

Here's hoping the CURRENT seller gets the message

Hi, All,

Yes WHJ was important to me and I would of liked to seen it go to a good home in the "complete comdition" which is why I offered it for sale. I could quite easily done the same as Mr Mackay and sold the best parts seperately. just for the record below is Mr Mackay's response when I questioned his actions. At one time before the company car WHJ served me well as my every day transport.
"Dear steve-pss,

Hi Steve, i understand your concerns about whj but you are mistaken the car needs more then i can give it as im losing my garage in london to make way for more developments, as if its not crowded enough, so i am recouping my losses and the rover will be sold on for someone else to restore minus the extras. i sorry but at the end of the day i spent a lot of money buying a recovery dolly, petrol, and the price of the rover and am entitled to recover the cash, i was the only bidder on the car so obviously the rover community dont share your optimism. i will list the rover for restoration, if you was that fond of it why did you sell it?
regards Rob

May be he losing garage in the long term, but he making good use of it at present, as he has also recently striped a 3500 with Rostyle wheels, however I do understand that this car was in poor condition with a rusty bulkhead.

I guess the pride and joy place has always been reserverd for my 1967 2000 TC JRL 636E, which was my first car way back in 1981. It still sits in our garage awaiting some attention, it has completed over 160,000 miles on the clock, of which 100,000 miles since I original restored it in 1984. Then of course there was the Rally car that we built SAN 748F which took a lot of time effort and late nights at times!

If you have a name and address for the guy you could try reporting him
to his local council for running a business from his lock-up....

It is highly unlikely he has registered it at such
and if he is breaking cars there he is due to pay business rates at least

EDIT

Just had a reply from the Current Seller asking in effect
why he stripped to car of the good bits before selling it on.

Unfortuantely I can not post it here as one it would not pass the filters and two it is VILE.

It has of course been passed on the eBay for them to have a look at.

God help anyone who has to deal with this bob-mackay bloke
he sounds a nasty piece of work....

I found him on the y'old facebook yesterday, stating how he was going to sell the things worth money.

Wasn't a busy day yesterday.

Follow on

I hope Bob does come on here.

However for the rest of you I have just send this to Mr Mackay...

Dear Bob

You don't know me from Adam,
so was a little offended at your reply

Is your local council aware of the fact that you are in essence running a car stripping and spares business from your lock-up?
You should be paying business rates.

In addition as you are buying and re-selling on eBay you should also be registered as a business seller on there
and also registered with HRC for tax purposes.

I have brought this to eBay's attention so you do not have to take time out from your lucrative business to do so yourself.
Please let me know if you wish me to inform HRC to save you some more time from your busy day.

You may also wish to peruse the Classic Rover Forum were your current business practices are being discussed.

Be careful who you have a go at online - you never know who they are or the contacts they have.

Get ready for the war - I hate this kind of person.....
