P6's in the media

I remember watching 'Anna Lee' filmed & set in the mid '90s. IIRC the central character's boss drove a mint-looking Zircon V8 (as a classic car) which was blown up by a bomb in a drain over which it was parked! :(

The im[car]db doesn't seem to have this car referenced on it. This is the link to the general imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105942/
I see the series is being repeated on ITV Encore, Sundays at 4.55pm. Tomorrow's is about 1/2 way through the only 6 episodes made. Don't know which one the P6 is in though....

Hi, one nugget of useless information I remember about "Anna Lee" was that the actress
Imogen Stubbs had such trouble driving the manual Sunbeam Alpine that they had to fit
an automatic gearbox for her. See, told you it was useless!!

Colin

Well, the Anna Lee episode was last Sunday's called 'Diversion' & this is the P6:

and this is what happens to it.....

The car's tax disc expired in October 1993 & the episode was shown in 1994. Interestingly MJD 523L is currently SORNed & was MOT'd up to September 2013 :? Is the dented front wing in the last picture the 'give-away'? It looks like a V8 base unit, although most of the sound dubbing seems to be a 4 cylinder!

Does anyone on here own it?

That car looks familiar ,there is an old boy who lives in Bennington with a car nearly identical to that one ,with a similar No plate .

I wathched a John Wayne film a while ago which was set in London in the 70s. He was definately in a P6 at one point in this film. I can't remember it's name - maybe Brannigan? Can anyone remember it?

Colin
Just checked it on the net, It is Brannigan.

Brannigan is a virtual P6 fest!!! lots of Police P6s in this film 8)

I happened to come across 'The Persuaders' on the 'True Entertainment' channel the other night whilst on holiday (Freeview 142 I think, also on Sky a bit further on). It seems to be most nights at 10.00 pm. I remember it from my young days & what a fest it is of 60s / 70s cars! Well worth setting up to record, if a little cheesey....:)

I also saw some episodes of 'The Professionals' & the episode 'First Night' is virtually wall-to-wall P6 action for the first 10 minutes or so. The bad guys even escape in a Paprika S with Denovos!

There's a P6 in a Columbo episode called 'Dagger of the Mind'. The episode, not one of the best, was shot in London and features a Mk1 3500 driven by a police inspector. Let's not forget the original 'Get Carter', in which 5 or 6 P6's turn up at the end to arrest the bad guys. And in a slightly less well known production, my first P6 (76 2200TC) can be seen in part three of a film some friends and I made a while back for a laugh called 'Cowboy Club', at this link:

The Rover was dressed up as a police car and transports an illegal line dancer off to the nick, at about 2 minutes 20. Come on, take a look, be the 113th viewer! You know you want to...

I think one of the most recent appearances was in ITV's Morse prequel "Endeavour" in which Nick Dunning's 2000 and a couple of other P6s appeared. There will be a thread in here somewhere with screen shots.

The opening scene of the film Frost/Nixon has a P6 in it. From an original news reel of the Watergate hearings.

I see someone has mentioned ‘The Gaffer’. Here is the title sequence with plenty of P6 in it:

The french 2200 TC has new euro style french plates that are modified to look older. They miss the blue edges left and right that denote the country and the department respectively.

I think that the german V8 belongs to a well known member of this forum: mrtask. I think that he has told us a while ago about the filming with Elina Garanca.

You're right he did, but i did not find it in this thread.
The french plates look great. I wish the austrian government would decide to get back to our old black plates for classic cars ...

A couple of P6s featured in Endeavour were these "series one" models:
