P6B 3500s Front Number plate plinth

Have managed to get my hands on a front number plate plinth but have no idea on how to fix it. Any help - especially pictures appreciated!

If it's the standard fitting, it will just be a case of securing the two horizontal strips with their respective inner two bumper mounting bolts/brackets.

Some owners use an inverted rear chromed plinth at the front & I'm not sure how these are fitted.

Here's a shot of the fittingPXL_20220511_033033958[1].jpg and the front bumperPXL_20220511_033108549[1].jpg. There are no corresponding holes in the front bumper.

On the V8 P6s I have owned the front number plate holder had two flat lengths of metal extending sideways either side at the top, which bolt to the two front bumper irons. Sorry, I've no pic of the part disassembled.

on my 74, there is a part (563717 lh, 563716 Rh) that comes fwd from the base into the bumper, about 3" in from the overrider, on both sides. The ends come through holes in the valance just outside the air vent array. Then there is a part (563718), maybe 3ft long whose ends are bolted to the front of the 563717, 563716, and it has a plate for the rego plate to be screwed to.

JP... Thanks for the image. Mines a 1975. Looks like that's the correct part.
I think I'll rig an alternate fix. New South Wales front number plates are small in comparison to UK. Cheers M

Looking at the bumper picture - and it's rather dark so not sure - but it looks like you have a bracket by the edge of the valance, that may have been ground away? Is the bumper only attached to the body at each end, rather than in the middle too?

(I'm going somewhere with this..)

Marc, if you have the 2 supporting arms coming fwd through the valance you could easily cobble up a bar to support a plate?

Sorry, you mean the bumper arms... Yes of course they are there. Would need a longer bar to attach the plate to. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Hi, I've just had a closer look at your pic and the bar is there and the bumper is bolted to it. The number plate plinth is secured by that bumper bolt, the bolt goes through both the plinth bracket and the bumper support bar into the fixing on the bumper.

Thanks Colin. Yes. I had in mind something else. If I fashion a longer bar can secure it the bumper bolts as you describe.

Hi, If the bracket that comes through the valance is there and is bolted to the bumper then it doesn't need to be longer. The number plate support uses that bolt, it goes between the bracket and the bumper. If you make a longer bracket it will push the bumper further forward and the hole won't line up.
