I've written about this before but there's a showroom in Raynes Park London SW20 with a 1973 V8 auto 30K miles .They've had it YEARS - it was once £4995 and has gone up £1K a year and today it's £9995 ! Same place has a G Reg Mini with low/no miles , now £14995 and a 20K mile Merc CLK .All 3 cars have been there 3+ years.
I hate to think what years of standing has done to the autobox and brakes . Seems like the owner thinks the longer he keeps these cars , the more they are worth

Go in and offer him the original £4995!

I bet he'll chase you, and then after about 3 weeks..... you might get a carefully worded email!! :D

It's not worth £4995 if it needs new autobox, brakes tyres and all rubber bushes and hoses changing
Seller reckons he's a bit of a P6 expert .........

Doesnt take much to recomission a car!!!
Certainly left standing for a few years is no reason for a new gearbox.
The 1970 2000sc auto I had was off the road for 17yrs,and was a sweet runner, once coaxed back into life it really only needed new pads, tyres, exh backbox and minor welding.
And the 1967 VW Ghia I did was off the road for 25yrs and took about the same.
Agree about the price though,it would have to be a near mint runner to get £5k!!

I've found it's luck of the draw when you leave them standing for long periods.

Sometimes you get away with it :D

Sometimes you don't, and that's what you need to remember.

That is an S1 V8 though. That might well add £1 to 2k to the price. And it does look a fabulous example. Still strong money though.

This exceptional car has had just 1 registered keeper, living in South East London its whole life. It was originally supplied by main dealer Harvey Hudson of Woodford E18 on the 3rd September 1970.

Interesting.

That looks beautiful. A really late S1 V8, probably very much a sister of Lucky Chris. Sits nicely and looks very well.

It does look nice, apart from that kenlowe switch stuck on top of the steering column, and why to Deal;ers always call anything that's vaguely green "British Racing Green", particularly in this case where they show a picture of the inner wing clearly showing the colour label.

It's a shame that there isn't a fsh, as I have a strong suspicion I may have done a load of work on that when I was at the Main Stealer in question. Head gaskets, cam & followers, and a rear caliper to name a few items from the list, and lots of other bits I can't remember, all in one hit when it would have been about 9 years old. Came to a fair few quid from what I remember. Whether it is the same car, and if so, whether that casts any doubt over the mileage, I wouldn't like to say. The one I did was certainly that colour, and that year, and the chances are it only got in there to be done because it was originally supplied from there, otherwise it wouldn't have got past the door.

Highly interesting Harvey.

Harvey may have done a bit on this car. Begs the question, " does that add or detract from the value"

Yes, that's an interesting point.....

(Chances are we're never going to find out whether I did or whether i didn't, because unless there's an invoice in the car detailing the work, I'm not likely to remember even if I saw the registration number. I only remember that particular job because by then it was just so rare to have a Series 1 in there. By then they were just classed as old cars.)

I'm delighted to say that I am the new proud owner of the Series I V8 from Eclectic Cars. Expensive though it was - I've been searching for months and this was by far and away the cleanest, most original, unmolested example I saw, and the 1 owner history appealed. I hope you all like it, and I can't wait to bring it to some meetings.
