P6 electric conversion

Hi Mark, good to see your project coming along. Off point, I noticed in one of your previous posts that you had refurbished your seats and door cards ? I'm looking to vinyl spray paint my door cards to match the original sandalwood colour. I presume you did the same ? If so can I ask what colour code you have for the vinyl paint ? In Ballarat we only have one place that will mix vinyl auto paint, Haines paints.
Hi Lewis,
Thought I already replied but maybe I didn’t press send. I used Colourlock. They had to match it from a sample of leather I sent them. They did it manually and when I needed more I had to send a small sample of the paint back to match that again. Aus distributor is in Perth.

I resprayed my two front door cards, rear parcel shelf and shoulders on the front seats.
I took a door pull [toledo red] into an auto paint supplier, and they colour matched perfectly.
Attention to cleaning the article to be painted is crucial.
They also sold me a low volume top load spray gun.
A clear warm day in the backyard with everything masked up and several "very light" coats.
Can honestly say -now looking like brand new.

Test fitting motor, controller and battery boxes (just virtual at this stage).

very much against EV conversions of classic /historic vehicles. essentially changing a steam rain to electric ? understand if only option eg living in London (stan) where issues would be high and only way to drive one is with EV conversion. later on one expects I think to see huge energy hike in prices due to demand and supply. can' see point in running around in a classic vehicle shell and bakery power underneath . Ok providing we have a very clear plate change or sign added to show no longer classic .historic piece of history .eg a large 'E' end of number plate . so we all aware its an EV in a classic 'shell' not a real piece of history .

I also have a new steering box. While everything is out seems like the best opportunity to replace the old one. Any recommendations for a good person to do that in Sydney?

OT, but today’s Australian financial review, lifestyle and leisure section, carries the story of electric conversions for Land Rovers, starting from $180,000 plus a donor vehicle (if that needs restoration, double the cost!!)
One would have to be extremely enthusiastic me thinks.
