P6 DRIVER GETS TIMING RESET ! !

No real connection to P6s but I wanted to give the NHS a thumbs-up.
Last Tuesday I saw my GP because I had chronic insomnia and asked him to prescribe to sleeping tablets. He asked me a few questions, one of which reminded me that if I did manage to doze off, I would wake up breathless.
Is that so, says GP and sent me to a Practice Nurse for an ECG. Things then started moving very rapidly and within half an hour I was in an ambulance cutting through the evening rush-hour on the A 127 Southend Arterial.
Apparently a heart rate of 37 is cause for considerable concern! Normal service is 60 and upwards.
I now have a pacemaker controlling my ticker and can feel the difference whenever I walk up a flight of stairs.
The odd thing is that I had no idea that there was anything even mildly amiss, and the day before I had been out for an hour's fairly vigorous cycle ride in my efforts to lose weight!

Unsurprisingly, I am an enormous fan of the NHS and Basildon Hospital in particular.

That's a result then! Three cheers for the NHS in Basildon.

Unless you're an elite athlete. My resting HR was down to about 40 bpm in my prime. It's around 52 now.

Glad you got it sorted :D

Good blog - Timely warning .
Its quite a shock isn't it when one is given a window to act on something rather trivial and it turns out to be life saving .
We service our cars better than we service our selves .
I get a WOF for my car every 6 months .
How frequently do I get a WOF on my person ???

Glad the NHS works somewhere in the country. My story is not so good however, it took them nearly 20 years to sort mine out after repeatedly telling me there was nothing wrong with my heart.

I won't go on about it as I don't want to marr your success.

Glad you're ok, nice one :)

Richard

Thanks all for your good wishes. :p

Richard - although my experience with the NHS was so much better than yours, I don't think I'll be catching up with your exploits.
I have absolutely no plans to walk up Snowdon in a frigid monsoon, as you did this time last year. Hope you'll be relaxing in warm sunshine on the anniversary!

LOL John - me, my lad and daughter are planning a three peak trip this year. I am not quite stupid/fit enough to do them all on the same day, but we are hoping to do Snowdon, Scafell and Ben Nevis all within a few days or so.

Watch this space
