Hi everyone.I am looking for a complete boot prop kit for my P6.I have a boot mounted spare wheel and nothing to hold the boot lid open and it is heavy.Does anyone have one please?
regards
Tony Jenkins.

Hello Tony
I have replaced my prop with a gas filled prop as used in modern cars .
It attaches to the standard bracket under the boot lid , and extends down to the left hand step in the boot midway between the bracket that holds the tyre when stashed in its upright position and the tool curtain - works perfectly .
The gas prop guy measured the total weight of the boot and mounted wheel in the open position plus distance it had to travel , and chose the correct prop .
I like it better than the P6 factory prop arrangement , as its less fiddly to use and a nice movement . A one handed operation to close .
One option for you to consider .

Hi Tony,

I've probably got a set of the original setup bits in the garage somewhere. I'll try and look them out if you're still interested?

That's really cool. Have you the spec. for this and a picture? One thing I'd definitely like is gas struts for the bonnet too!

Peter , here are some pics .
Don't have the specs as I did it 10 yrs ago .- but your gas strut man will want to measure and weigh your boot to get a good result anyway .
I haven't screwed the base plate down , as it grips like shit to a blanket as it is .
I wish I kept my boot interior cleaner some times , like right now ! But I live on an unsealed road and find better things to do than clean the boot after each outing ..
The boot seals are all good and still the dust gets in . The cabin is fine as I put the blower on full and this pressurises the interior enough to keep the dust out .
