P6 3500 1974 auto tacho?

trying to find on wiring diagram.
No 37, tacho. Where does the wire to the tacho come from? I would assume neg side of the coil, but this is not as the diagram.
Thanks

if it is an RVI tacho, it is wiring in series with the ignition circuit (i.e. the power to the coil goes though the tacho). If it is RVC, it is wired in parallel.

That's what you get with extra decades of practice.
Please try to understand, older personnel do not take to bright young people telling them to "make an effort" Most do not know how to manage a laptop, I am one of them.
To this, if the forum cannot except a few mistakes, without making a unwanted comments.
I would call it a day, and just stay with my MG club

To be fair Brian, it does take quite a bit of housekeeping to keep the forum tidy and in order, and we are volunteers helping to keep this valuable resource going.

We do have to move most of your threads; this one was posted in "Federal Rovers."

I take your point about older personnel finding it difficult to manage a laptop, but you do post well, and I am sure you could get them in the right place if you wished to.

A young, bright Rover owner would be about 65.

If people are new here they might not understand that we're not serious and we on occasion joke that we're of a mature disposition. Brian, if I were near you, I'd fix your electrics for you. I have a degree in electrical engineering hence a 60 year old car doesn't present much of a challenge.

To go back to the original question, a 74 auto from chassis E, or manual from chassis D should have a parallel tacho, where earlier types had the tach in series with the distributor lead from the coil. All irrelevant, since both types have the tach feed from the neg side of the coil. The series type should have a single lead off the coil neg side, where the parallel type will have 2 leads - one for tach, one for dizzy. Apparently the parallel tach will work OK with an electronic type coil control, where the series type wont.
