Has anyone had any experience in fitting OUTER DOOR WEATHERSEALS, as fitted to a P6.and as supplied by Wins.. your comments will be very welcome on both the ease of fitting and the final quality

hi there,
Do you mean the seal against the glass on the outside?
I am in the process of fitting new window felts to the channels and access to the outer seal is very easy to replace, the products from Wins and Wadhams are very good .

Thank you Peter , your comments give me encouragement.. I think it will be early next year when I get around to fitting them .. but at least the car will be under cover over that time.. would fit them sooner , along with another 6-8 improvement jobs .. but just recovering from double hernia op, so driving /jobs are out the question for a few weeks ... BUT oh how nice to have those jobs to look forward to ... ITS A 1971 3500 in Corsican Blue .. love of my life !!.. please excuse delays in messages, still getting used to this 'system'
Thank you .. please let me know how you get on .. Pat..

Hi there Pat,
Welcome to this forum, lots of help with any job, just ask...:)
The wins product is fine , you can also get the same from Wadhams at, J R Wadhams Ltd | Browse P6 Categories.
to fit, you remove the handles and door card, then remove the single screw that holds the winding mechanism buffer at the center, bottom of the door.
This allows the glass to wind to the very bottom of the door , so that you can gain access to the large Phillips head screws that hold the frame to the door edge where the rubber seal is.
Just pull the old seal out and use as a template for the new seal.
All very easy if you have done the job only once.
regards
Peter

Wow , Thanks you Peter, super info ! I have typed and printed that info out so that there is no chance of loosing it..
One advantage of converlessing is that I have been able to scour the internet for 'bits'. but in honesty have obtained some great items from Wins.
Ie genuine wheel trim badges, seat belts and (what a find) a genuine flasher switch stalk. BUT would you have any ideas as to where I can get a genuine/very good horn & indicator switch, the unit on my car does work , but is marred by showing fleck of rust through the chrome
Thank you for all that super info , I really do appreciate it
Regards
Pat

That's the fiddly bit. The seal arrives as a length that has to be trimmed to fit. Getting it absolutely right is not as easy as some of the posts above might suggest. It really depends how much of a perfectionist you are.
Scott's Old Rubber of Australia lists them pre-cut so that will be my choice when I finally get my doors sorted.

Hi there Willy,
found this UK site that may help with the parts and trims that you are seeking. Its an alternative to scotts auto rubber, they are rather expensive for some parts , even here in australia. Sometimes its cheaper to buy in the UK, inc postage, than buy locally in Ozz.

Hi Peter,
Woolies are a great company, I've bought lots from them. But if they sell the seals that the OP is asking about, they'll be in untrimmed lengths like those supplied by Wins, etc.
