ODOMETER

Greetings all from Australia, Now I am inching closer to buying a 1976 P6B ( NZ assembled ). Its in Almond livery. It is an excellent vehicle that I have known for many years. Zero rust and with a impeccable history. Now the only problem ( other than a non working clock ) is that the odometer does not work. What would be involved in rectifying this issue so I could get a Victorian RWC.

Cheers
Lewis

PS. Buy Aussie wine.

Its a little ratchet mechanism driven off the speedometer drive in the speedo. head. It might just be stuck and needs a clean , not sure how easy the speedo. is to dismantle as fortunately not had to.

Being in Vic also, with a recently acquired 74 P6B, I noticed that vehicles this age are NOT required to have even a speedo, much less a working odometer. In fact Vicroads says speedo not required until 1988. In RWC requirements it also says calibrated in kph, but my 1983 Porsche (ex UK) is calibrated in MPH, and it has done 2 RWC so far.
Usually a non working odometer would indicate stripped gears....
