Odd P6 wheels on auction

Right on the wheel H but they have the same stud pattern as regular P6 wheels. The Magnum wheels available on Federal spec Rovers, that looked similar to Rostyles had a different stud pattern IIRC.

I've got a set on my NADA 5/half inch wide, made by US wheel maker Kelsey Hayes.
Made for rover 2000 US models as an option but will fit v8s with some rear D post adjustments!
Use the same wheel stud pattern but unique nuts.
I think it's the magnum 500s that use different pattern.
Clive.

They are indeed Magstars. Sourced & fitted in North America for the first NADA TCs, as the Rosytles were not available yet. They have the same 5 x 5 bolt circle. The Magnum 500s, also a NADA exclusive, are the one with the smaller bolt circle & larger studs. Also a stopgap until the Rostyles were in production. Or rather, the Magnums were the original Rostyle, as they were the Motor Wheel Corp design that was licensed to become the Rostyle made in England.

These are far better being alloy, right? Presumably they don't weigh several tonnes like Rostyles do. Presumably also they were expensive for Rover.

They're actually a sad combination of the worst of both worlds. A steel rim, prone to rust, with a weaker alloy centre, prone to corrosion, held together with rivets to exacerbate both forms of corrosion. They're quite narrow in rim width too, with an odd look due to the centre cap projecting out from the wheel, (when viewed from the front or overhead).
Despite the aluminium alloy content, they're not very light either.
IMHO, almost the worst P6 wheel choice and deservedly rare.

I've been driven in a P6 with genuinely light minilight type wheels and certainly the weight difference is so vast over my Rostyles that the ride quality is appreciably better. They certain cause less "crashing" into potholes and the like.

That is certainly a Magstar, and as has been said, they ain't lightweight. I got hold of a set and had them refurbished, and I really like them. They're certainly rare, and I think they look great on a P6, giving the Rover a definite Muscle Car look. I love the large 'slots' which make them nice and easy to clean, show off the front disc brakes, and also make it obvious that there are no rear brakes out at the wheels, being rather tucked away inboard by the diff.
Some Mercury Marauders and Shelby Mustangs had Magstars fitted as standard, albeit with a chromed 15" steel rim.
