Number One.

I can't take credit for this, it was Saturn Simon who used to be on here when he had a 3500S that thought of the idea, but it was interesting enough that I thought I'd steal it for here.

What was the UK number one single at the time your car(s) was first registered?

Try this site and search the year using the dropdown on the left. http://www.number-ones.co.uk/

This got to Number One on the very day mine was registered.

And I couldn't be happier.

If you go down to watch the Bangers at Arena (and elsewhere) you'll still hear it every time.

Never a truer word said..... Luckily enough for me though, is the fact that most of my "Mouldy Old Dough" has been prised out of your cold clammy hands.... And long may it continue..

Touche'!

"Whiter Shade of Pale" - Procol Harum which just happens to be loaded with memories of the summer of '67 for me.

3 fantastic months on secondment in Derby working at the Gasworks & playing the 'Groovy Londoner who gets his clothes in Carnaby Street'! (I did, in fact)

Interesting to remember that of the crowd I went around with then, only about a quarter had cars! (18 to 25 year olds)

Amazing Grace was #1
All about the P6 :D
If I recall I only listened to Led Zeppelin - VERY LOUD .Hey moma is that the way you move .
All about the P6 again

Come on feel the noise - Slade - for anyone that's heard my red 3500S running I think it just about sums it up :D .

Black rose was 2nd Feb 1965--The Righteous Brothers You lost that loving feeling
I was born 1 year and a day later

Ethel & Daffodil - both registered on 1st August 1972 - Puppy Love - The Osmonds.

Apparently that single reached #1 in the Uk on 4th July 1972, the day that Ethel was manufactured, according to the heritage certificate. 'nuff said.

The Blue McFoo - 12 March 1970 - Wandrin Star - Lee Marvin - awesome - I love that song

Hildegarde - 17 September 1971 - Hey Girl Dont Bother Me - The Tams. A 60s re-release - rather obscure.

I also happen to know without looking it up this time that the #1 when I was born in 1970 was The Wonder of You, Elvis Presley because I looked it up years ago.

Blockbuster by The Sweet for my one.

Good job it wasn't several months later in 1973 - Gary Glitter at no.1!
