Ah, good news. Is the farm in Thailand? Bit of a to-do going on out there at present.

Indeed, I did get a phone message from Yorkie this morning and he did sound jovial, so all is under control where he is, by the looks of it 8)

I know I'm not going to be popular for saying this but I'd keep those fog lamps...!

If they're a 'period' fitting it may be worth keeping them as they are part of the cars history and, if you fancy using it as a daily it'd be safer to have them on there (if they work?!) than to not have them...!!!

Obviously, it is your car so it's up to you now! I think it'll look good whatever you do to it as I know you're pretty darn keep on these lovely old beasts...

The owner added them at some point in the 1980's I think. I'll evaluate the whole situation when I get her. She has real Cibies on the front :)

I got a V nice pair of cibies for my Arden S1V8,but alas no grey covers!
Seems they can crack and drop off,so its hard to find them!
Nick,?
Do you know at what point Cibies were replaced with the Lucas square 8's on the options list?

Nice find, good to see another potential daily driver back on the road. Good luck with it. :D

That's an interesting date, and it's what James Taylor's book says as well. I'd have said circa 1970-1971 as it's rare to see a S2 car with Cibies, but I may have to bow to your greater knowledge - would certainly have defeated me on 'P6 Mastermind' :D

This 1972 car we have in at the moment has them, but I did think they must have been retro fitted.

I'd agree with you Nick.

Re; Cibie v Lucas SQ8's and the 2 options lists I have!!
The options list from 1968 clearly states Cibie fog and spot!
The options list from 1971 just states fog or spot,no make!
Would make sense that the options revisions were made when the S2 was launched in 1970!

I do think it's around that time, possibly even slightly before. More research pending!

In the 1971 options list it actually doesnt list a spot light!
Below fog lamp it lists, Long range driving lamp!
Lucas lamps are FL8 and LR8,"Fog Lamp and Long Range",so in conclusion I think the actual change would of been for the 1971 launch of the 3500S,being the 1st print of the updated options list for the S2 to include the 3500S!
Also noted that door mirrors were not offered on S1's! only S2's.

Well it has opened up a bit of debate - I do reckon it's a lot earlier - more research pending!

Cheers
