New parts: Hinge pin bushes

Mods, please let me know if this is ok?

I have created new hinge pin nylon bushes for the doors on our cars. The original bushes were nylon and have mostly worn pretty well over the last 40 odd years, but they do wear, causing doors to drop when opened. After having this problem myself I made a set in SLS nylon. These have the same performance as the originals, the only difference being they are not worn.

We will be selling them at $22.50 a set of 4 (enough for two doors) plus postage. Let me know if you're interested.

I didn't even realise they had a nylon part on the door hinge! You live and learn I guess. That's got me thinking, must check mine!

yep, it was a pretty interesting material choice on the part of Rover. Self lubricating and with super high abrasion resistance certainly worked. My car had it pretty bad, but it took 49 years to get there.

Just noticed this very thing last Friday with the drivers door dropping slightly on opening.

I am not aware of any nylon bush on the hinge pins. Could you please indicate for which part you are talking about?

Are we talking about the bush in the hole of part 371719 / 370720? They look more like brass to me. I'm currently refitting all my doors and haven't noticed any wear there. If I did, I'd just swap for spares from rear doors which would have had lighter use. Or are we talking about different items?

Yes the bushes in 371720 and 371719. I have some on the shelf in the garage taken from my 1968 2000TC. Having removed one they are definitely nylon. I’ll post pics when I get a moment today

How strange, I wonder if they changed to brass later? (Mine is a 1974 car and I'd guess my spare doors are all from the seventies.)
Thanks for posting the photos.

I do wonder if the brass were a later change. To be honest the nylon parts seemed to last for a good while. I made the new ones slightly over sized to fit tightly in the hinge and the hole for the pivot pin is slightly undersized to accommodate any wear in the pin itself.
