Re: New P6 hopefully on its way to join my fleet!

We have reached a deal on the price pending going to inspect and test drive tomorrow!
With luck the weather will be good and I can get home before the rush hour and darkness hits!

Re: New P6 hopefully on its way to join my fleet!

I dont think that one could be test driven! :)
If I buy it,I will be able to drive it home!

Re: New P6 hopefully on its way to join my fleet!

Hi all.
Introducing No:27!

1970 Rover P6V8 auto
Tobacco leaf and sandalwood
Built 19/8/1970
1st Reg'd 1/10/1970
Chassis no; 45100027A
Engine no;42522567
Its the original engine!

Drove back from Devon without incident.
Axle is whining,so knocked him down another £100! :)
Front o/s brake binds every now and then.
It has new calipers all round,so binding is probably due to only having done 60 miles in the last 2 yrs!
Oil and water all ok.
Has its exterior and interior cosmetic issues as would be expected, but very good overall!!
It has a fresh MOT and 1yr tax.
More as I play with it tomorrow.

Passes my test, Dave. Straight seams to the front of the front seats! Looking forward to seeing it. I have a feeling it's actually OLDER than My S1, Lucky.

What's the plan for this one ? Is it a keeper or one for doing up and selling on ?

Re: New P6 joins my fleet! Meet No:27

Glad it's gone to a good home, Pilkie, and a bit of a bargain too, given its age. Look forward to seeing you work your magic on it.

IIRC Lucky was built in Mid-July(?) - I do remember when we looked at the books that the last Three Thousand Five (S1) did not go through inspection until something like the 8th September 1970.

I'd reckon the car is younger than Lucky, but not by much at all. Base unit numbers would be interesting between the two cars.

Mr. Pilkie's car is so early that it may well have been registered for, or been a demo for, someone at Pengam. The S2 wasn't launched until the October.

Re: New P6 joins my fleet! Meet No:27

Base unit number is; BA026504
BMH Cert records, Label(LINE) No; 6290
Built 19/8/70
Despatch 18/9/70
1st reg 1/10/70 in Swansea.

Spent its first 2-3 yrs and 36k miles around Cheltenham and Worcester according to regular dealer service schedule stamps.
Then a 6000 mile service at 38k miles in Nov 75 when it moved down to Devon.
And spent the next 30 yrs with 1 owner doing about 2500m per year.
History for the period 1975-2005 is lost.
That brings it up to about 106k miles
In storage for about 5 yrs,and gone through 2 or 3 owners,"Not on V5" since then doing welding and other repairs including 4 replacement s/h wings,up to its current mileage of 110k.
Am going to try and contact the 30yr owner and see if any history files can be found!
Will also contact a previous owner who was on the forum back in 2010 and see if he can give me some history info!

It has had sill welding in the past and it all looks good, but I am bound to find a few iffy bits!
1 sill has been riveted onto the floorpan, easily fixed, and better than being welded on! :)
Will take both off for a better look.
Needs a little bit of welding under the rear p/s seat base.

Re: New P6 joins my fleet! Meet No:27

Hi all.
Due to circumstances in my life,I have decided to sell on No:27 and/or Mr Manky the Morris Minor traveller.
Am just about to put a replacement diff into No:27, if my hand and guts will stand up to it!!
If not it will be given to the new owner to fit.
I am looking for circa £2.5k for either car,but am open to sensible offers.
Mr Manky comes with a good selection of NOS and excellent s/h spares to aid its restoration, and I have a few useful P6 spares I can give with No:27.
For more info on either car please Email or PM me.
Cheers!

Re: New P6 joins my fleet! Meet No:27

If you arent sure about trying to change the diff dont do it. It's just not worth it.
