Need to replace exhaust manifold. Anything I should know?

I have the service manual, so the procedure seems straightforward enough. But I'm wondering if there are any known gotchas in this job, or anything I should prepare ahead of time that is not in the manual. I will order all the gaskets and seals that I'm likely to come across in the job and replace those. I hate working on exhausts and things usually go wrong so I will try to get new bolts and nuts as well.

Second question: I have a 2200SC engine in a '66 2000SC. It appears to me that I can get a 2200 manifold as a replacement and everything is fine. Is there a difference between that one and the one for the 2000?

Appreciate any shared expertise.

Cheers,
Karl

The 2000 and 2200 manifolds are the same. I have seen people fit the manifold gaskets the wrong way around, but I was never quite sure how they managed it. If you can get brass nuts it will make any future dismantling easier. Bolt everything up loosely in place before tightening, and make sure that the 2 lower mounts on the front pipe aren't pulling on the manifold, ie ie make sure when tightening the manifold to downpipe joint you're not pulling the downpipe across to meet the manifold.

Excellent, thank you. Yes, the brass nuts are a very good idea. I will see if I can drum up a set to fit. Thanks!
