need p6 v8 rear axle differential overhauling

I see the unbroken shaft is twisting at the step in the splines. What power and torque are you putting through that diff ?
 
I think if I needed to go again with a 4.6, that engine has to be an option. The money is not unreasonable for what you get.
There is the question of VAT, which does not get mentioned.
 
They're not vat registered so that is the price, but you will be looking at £60 delivery :)

how is the best measure between cown & pinion gear?
we can not find it in the manual !

Setting up a diff is a black art practiced by men in oily overalls working under railway arches in the dodgy parts of cities.

BTW. Do you supply a dustpan and brush to use after your black stripe painting ? To sweep up all the Rover diff parts. I see your bin is getting filled up already, maybe you want to consider fitting a Jag unit, so that the southern Germany Rover diff population does not go extinct ;)
 
The Rover workshop manual (AKM3625) I have for the 2000/2200, shows how to measure & set up the pinion height using a service tool 605004. Alternatively I understand it all can be done by trial & error using engineers blue to determine the correct meshing for the teeth . Must admit I have never tried it myself, fortunately not had the need to.
