NADA Electric Window Switches

Hello

I heard that the window switches used on the NADA3500S were standard issue parts from a common US manufacturer, used on cars over here. Like a Chevy something or other.

True or false? If true, any clues?

Cheers

I don't think it's that clear cut - Ian Wilson is the expert on this.

The switches can be found in the USA, but they are still not cheap and bringing them over, once you have located some stock, is still costly.

Not sure if you spotted it, but it seems the OP is in sunny California (ok for some), which might make it a bit easier

I understood they were generic across a range of US manufacturers and went with the electric window motor manufacturer rather than the car manufacturer. Certainly GM used them, which is why they finished up on the Vauxhall Viscount in the UK. The NADA window motors are likewise US generic.

100% true. They are Delco switches and the switch toggle part was very common across the whole GM range in the lates '60s- early '70s. There were a few different types of surround trim used though. Lots on Ebay USA and I'm pretty sure you can get NOS or Repros from some of the GM resto specialists. (Same goes for the electric window motors too)
Here are some: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-NOS-1967-19 ... d6&vxp=mtr

Thanks gents!

That's one thing off the list. Now I have to fabricate the surround for the main control somehow.

Do you have a car with or without Airconditioning? If you do have airconditioning, viewtopic.php?f=33&t=12645 . If you don't, we have to figure something out. I need a new plate as well! My dad has AC on his, so he find himself very funny sometimes.

hi kiwirover,
those are the wrong switches for the bank of four, there are at leats four different ones, that i know of. ours only have 9 pins on the back, the one listed has 10. then the other thing you need to take into consideration is the pattern and the spacing of the pins so that they fit into our loom.

Hi

I looked through eBay and found dozens of choices, the same from the front but I suspected the pin business and so I determined to ask of a pic of the back just in case. My car does not have AC, well if you discount the horrendous DIY job that was stashed where the passenger bin should be. I need to relocate that to the boot, although replacing it with an original would be nice but I expect quite unlikely to be doable.

My apologies, didn't realise there would be variations. Any idea what the 10th pin is for? I presume that one of the standard GM ones is correct though? Also, if you are building a system from scratch, it doesn't need to have the correct pin spacing for the Rover loom, it just needs the correct plug for whatever switch you use and make a loom to suit.

hi again,
correct, if he is making it from scratch it would not matter. but unless someone has ripped it all out, all NADA's had electric windows and he is only asking about the switches.
