My new project, driven 935km from Napier, to Lake Tekapo New Zealand.

Looks like a lot of fun. I had those wheels on my old Red 3500S, sadly gone now.
 
Looks very smart with pale vinyl roof and rear pillars. Those alloy wheels look the part too. Many more miles of smiles to you CG McD.
 
Great to see another Kiwi riding high and getting around our stunning country after a long lockdown. Your car is the perfect classic for the job.
Watch putting methanol blend fuel in these old fuel systems -they don't like it.

Thanks! I quite like the wheels as well, it was only when I had a close look, I saw the ROVER name on them. I guess they are from an SD1? Any ideas on refurbishing this type of wheel? Or even what they looked like originally?

Thanks for the welcome. We were on a North Island road trip in a rental car earlier this month, and the first place we stayed at I saw this car with a cardboard 4 sale sign out the back! Took it for a spin and I had a grinning wife! The car had been stored for 14 years, so we put it on a hoist, got a WOF, and it looked a reasonable proposition to change all our travel plans. Carried on in rental car for a week, looped back and drove her home, what a lovely comfortable cruiser. I was looking to get TVR Chimera, but in reality, I would have been alone in it, as Julie does not like convertibles. So Win-Win, fun car and happy wife alongside.

They are from an SD1, and I remember taking them from an SD1 back in the 80/90s along with the studs and nuts to fit my P6.

They were gold when I got them but they looked tacky so I painted them silver.

Thanks so much for this great description of improvements, and also a pic of your wheels. I think my wheels look OK as is, like yours, so they moved to the end of my list of 22 things to do to the old girl!!
