More carb needle queries

I have HIF6s on my 75 V8 auto. The needles in at the moment are old BBV needles. I have a brand new old stock pair of BCPs. What's the difference and will they work on the V8? I'll probably treat it to new jets too. It's only running on one carb so is undrivable at the moment. They are back of the bench....again!

HIF have biased needles that means they rub on the jet and over time wear a little scallop shaped crescent on the edge thus increasing the hole size.
I had problems setting up a single HIF on an SC that had done about 70K miles. Fortunately a work colleague worked at the original SU factory in Wood Lane Birmingham. He told me to change the jet , the needle he said would be OK as the wear on that would be minute as generally its spread over the whole length . He was correct, new jet and all problems solved.
