Mk1 grill

To complicate things, there are two Series 1 badges, the metal rimmed version and the all plastic. The metal rim version used two bar clamps with thumbscrews, the all plastic version used a mount that also spaced the grills apart that two knurled studs on the badge pressed into.

The version with several parts is only found on the earliest cars, up to around 1966/67.

I'd say 67/68 for the badge changeover. I associate the change with the cross flow rad, I've never seen a crossflow car with an early badge or a late badge on a vertical flow rad car. For the NADA cars at least.

My April 1967 2000 had the plastic badge and a vertical-flow radiator, so plastic and crossflow don't necessarily go together.

The service newsletters say the plastic badge was introduced in April of 1968 on the Automatic cars, and then standardized to the SC & TC in November 68. So I suspect your car had the badge replaced at some point, though you are right it would seem you could have a Automatic with the plastic badge and the vertical flow rad. The cross flow rad was introduced in August 68.
