MK 1 Bonnet strip on MK 2 bonnet

I am aware the strip does not fit on a mk 2 bonnet, however I don't want to lose the power bulge on the Mk2 and I really really want the strip on that bonnet. It would appear with some subtle cutting of the strengthening rib at the rear of the strip, and some time spent CAREFULLY bending, I could get what I want. Are there any metal experts out there who know what the strip is constructed of can advise on whether or not the strip will stand this proposed manipulation, without snapping. If this is the case I would rather sell it on to someone who could use it for its intended purpose rather than ruin it, as it is in perfect condition (at the moment) I am going to resist the urge until I have replies! (just in case!)

AFAIK thje strip is aluminium, so it can be worked, but you'll have to be on top of your game to do it.

Cheers guys, the most front part of the bonnet is a fit, however the underside lip may need compressing a fraction, very do able. it also will fit at the outer extremes of the bonnet over the headlights. its just the curve back from the front of the bonnet to the headlight area that requires the working. I agreewith Harvey most though, I will have to be on top of my game to avoid making a b*****ks of it!

Or you could look at fitting a NADA bonnet, which would give you three bonnet bulges AND the leading edge strip..

Series1 strip on Series2 bonnet which, with flutes, is my 'summer' bonnet, though tends to spend most of the year on the car. Did this about 20 years ago with a hacksaw, file and sandpaper. Didn't really want it over the headlights, which would have been beyond my ability anyhow. There always seems to be about a 3mm gap between bonnet edge and strip at the centre (even on my original Series1) and strip is not totally uniform.
