mirrors for thick doors

hi there,
Does anyone know if there is available, a clip on side mirror for the thick door frame?
or perhaps as adapter bracket that is fixed to the door frame first.
I did a simple drawing for one , but dont have the skills or tooling to make it...

Welcome to Auto Surplus

depends on what you call thick. I have one from the above (which replaced a much older one) which is held onto the door frame by a bracket with two grub screws. Its a round mirror made in Taiwan, I think. you can just make it out in the photo.
If you don't want interstate mail, try shops catering to modifiers and the hot rod market.

Sorry, I lied!
The mirror is actually clamped to the top edge of the door where it fits under the windscreen, not to the frame.
I really have no idea of any that would fit onto the frame.

Hi Mike, yes all the clips on the mirrors are made to fit to a very thin top of door edge, nothing like the very thick Rover door frame.
An adapter is needed to fit the door first and then attach the standard mirror.....

Hi Peter
You are right they are designed to clip on to rain gutters which run down the "A" pillar which of course the P6 one doesn't.
However youIMG_1237.JPG IMG_1238.JPG IMG_1239.JPG can still get an effective result clipping on to the door top.

hi there Mike,
thanks for the idea of mounting on the door as you have shown, I would never have thought of that area....:)

No worries Peter.
If you do it make sure you have something between the bracket and door so that you don't damage the paintwork.

Peter,
I forgot to mention it only works (for me anyway) on the driver's side.
Tried one on the passenger side and couldn't see it at all.
