Measurements of Factory Ball Joint Tool

Trying to explain whitworth or BSF sizing to a customer from Florida the other day I thought how boring the metric stuff seems by comparison. Feet and inches or pounds and ounces used to involve some sort of mental agility and the capacity for working out simple sums in the head that the younger generation seem to lack (or rather more accurately can't be bothered with). I remember when the metric system was adopted by one firm I worked for, they went round cutting two inches off the end of rulers!.

I came across this sketch a good few years ago, which uses M10 bolts. I've never made one up but, looking at the work it has to do, I've always thought M12 threads would be more appropriate....as per Harvey's measurements.

Would be very interested to see your complete drawing, Vern.
