My gearbox weeps a bit of oil, something I will live with. Not sure when the oil was changed so planning to drain and fill "presently". That's a vague term I use often with my wife.
Anyway, thought I'd best check the level in the meantime. Not abundantly clear from Haynes or from original Owner's Handbook where exactly to access the fill point.
It's under transmission tunnel carpet on the passenger (left hand) side just forward of the gearstick. Lift out mat, roll back carpet, picket 50 pence piece (finders keepers), peel back foam from bottom front, pull out black rubber bung and there it is, a copper 5/8 plug with integral copper washer.
On level ground, fill til it just runs out. Use 20/50 motor oil eg Castrol GTX. I'm using Miller's 20/50 classic mini oil as it is GL4 approved.
As it happens, level in mine is good despite weeping and oil looks bright and clear. Will change it "presently" anyway, so I know exactly when it's been done.
