So, this weekend I took part in The Dominik Spadaro Memorial drive against Cancer. It's an annual event to raise money for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center here in New York. Its a great event with loads of variety and a really friendly bunch of guys. We arrive in the morning, get directions, and drive a 75 mile road course with a halfway stop at a farm stand for coffee and doughnuts. The event is organised by The Spadaro family, a lovely family that own a operate Dominik's European Car Care in Whiet Plains NY. Started by their father, Dominik they specialise in Italian classics (with a fondness for P6's I'm pleased to say). Here's a video about them

Anyways, my better half couldn't come with me this year. Normally there's people who's cars aren't ready and they volunteer as navigators. This year I had a chat called Glen join me. He had a Ferrari 308 and a long history of the same old car problem we all have. At the half way point I offered him the chance to drive my 2000TC. He jumped at it. I've tweaked my car a little, its running with HIF6's, 2200 pistons, an uprated sway bar and Koni Adjustables set up on the firmer side of things.

The route back for lunch took us along country lanes, A style roads and a short stretch on the highway. Each time he tried a different sort of road he was very complimentary. When we got back he was asking more about the cars.

This morning he messaged me on FaceBook and is now looking for a TC for himself! We have switched a Ferrari guy to being a Rover guy!

Here in Switzerland you insure the person. I have a numberplate which I use on both my cars. If someone drives that car with my plate in it they are insured at my risk. Similarly if I borrow a car and put my plate on it I'm insured. Quite what the scumbags of urban Britain would make of easily removable numberplates I dread to think.

In UK the individual has to be insured to drive the car and one can often drive other vehicles but only basic Road traffic acts cover, ie not for damage to the vehicle. . In a lot of other countries the car is insured for individuals to drive it & often allows others to drive it with the same cover.
