Lumenition silver Vs Black

Hey guru's, my understanding is that the older style lumenition system with the sliver box likes 9v and the black is ok for full 12v. Is this correct? Looking like old Reg might be going back on full registration AS A DAILY DRIVER. Yeah, this could be interesting lol.

Hi Rob,

Yes, the silver Lumenition power module is designed for a ballasted supply whilst the black module is to be used with an unballasted supply. The black is quite a bit more expensive than the silver from memory. I looked at both options years ago, but all the additional stuff that the sports system offers was not something that I would ever use on a road car.

Thanks, I'm currently running a silver in my car and I have a few silvers in the parts drawer. One old-time mechanic I know runs his electronic at 12V and has done for years, but I don't know if it's lumenition and I wanted to double check mine needs 9V. Will keep as it is! Thanks.

That won't be a silver Lumenition power module as 12V will destroy the electronics.
Sounds a good plan Rob!
