Lowriders?

It would be extremely unique! As far as I know, it hasn't been done. How cool would it be though? Al discussion around it being original and the handling aside, a slammed P6 just looks so good...

I've been reading a couple of old threads regarding lowering the P6 but I'm a bit confused about the front. Some say lowered springs will work, others say parts of the suspension will need to be professionally shortened. Looking at the car tonight in the shed it's BEGGING to be bagged....

There was a white V8 on Facebook a couple of years ago that had got as far as bagging the front, I remember the video of it deflating, looked great. That from memory was in Oz somewhere

Just shortening the springs works, but at the front end the suspension geometry is less than ideal. Resetting the geometry would require modifying (shortening) the lower links, not an easy task.

The ideal way of lowering the front of the car car would be to move the spindle up on the upright — a major task probably involving machining an entirely new lower fitting to the upright.

Just cut the bottom sections off a pair of old front wings & weld them onto the bottom edges of your front wings, then bolt a spare pair of outer sill covers to the bottom of your existing sill covers. Then repeat the wing treatment with the rear wings.
Hey presto, a low cost lowrider.

If you want to go the whole hog get front & rear valances too.
I'm wasted here, l really am........ literally.

I wonder how I'd find pics of it......no luck searching FB or google.

Casters on the sills and remove the suspension springs completely. The beauty of this approach is the achievement of same ride quality of a slammed car. ;)

I suppose it just depends where you stand, shortening the lower links is probably one of the easier tasks of air bagging a P6.

Keep safe,
Gavin.

If you think about it bagging the rear is straightforward, and if you cut off the pushrod on the bellcrank and weld on a platform bagging the front is no hardship either. No one said you cant have a horizontal bag.
No I am NOT going to do it.
But to get a car on the ground you would need to clearance the inner wings, as the bell crank would be touching at the top. Oh and your steering would not take kindly to it either.
Oh well time for tea.

Curious how you would shorten the forward link?

RRRR the bottom front links are two rods joined together by a ball joint. they move on different axis so when they rise or fall they try to pull the ball joint apart. Lowering or raising the cars height is going to pre-load the ball joint and the rubber bushes. At minimum you will wear the joint and the rubber bushes aren't going to like it either.

I enjoy seeing well executed cars regardless of type, and have seen some amazing lowriders.
It is also true that air suspension is no longer necessarily sub par for handling, tech advances have meant you can build a very well setup car.

When going purely for style, it’s nice to make them
subtle enough to be classy still I think, like this Volvo Amazon
