hi,

my mk2 escort hasnt been run in a couple of weeks as i was welding in a patch....(that i cut from a p6 sill cover ) anyway i couldnt get it to start so i cleaned up plugs ect and took off the dizzy, Then connected it all back up and tried to start it then realised I had forgot to put in the rotor  ..so anyway once every thing was fine i charged up the battery and it started but was badly missfiring before cutting out and refusing to start ,,,,any help would be appreciated

cheers
peter

p.s i still have a few p6 spares , and if anyone needs headlights let me know i have loads ..just cover the postage and you can have one , or as many as you need , i have both inner and outers

Obvious first port of call would be a very carefull check to see you have the plug leads connected correctly... Engines have been known to run (a bit) with the wrong firing order!

This happened to me a while back, after a plug clean and re gap. I couldnt for the life of me tell what i had done wrong, so called in my brother to run a fresh over over it (never a bad idea he might see an obvious thing that was missed by you) Pretty quickly he found a microscopic crack on a plug was causing the really bad missfire (it had happened to him a year back) So, problem happily solved. :D
