Spent Friday and Saturday up at LRP in Connecticut. I was acting mechanic for a friend racing his mini. Took the Rover up there (it’s about 130 miles from home). She didn’t miss a beat and feels great these days. The roads up there are similar to the faster single lane A roads back home, fast sweeping curves with some nice fiddlely bits before B roads to the track.

As I was there as crew I didn’t bother going for corral parking and was about to enter the main parking lot. The chap on the gate said ‘That’s far too interesting a car, follow that guy’! Followed said guy and was allowed to go on the the side of the entry road! Funny story: As we get to the end of line of cars like Lancia Fulvias, an Aston Martin DB2/4 etc we see a guy backing a beige Toyota Camry into a spot! I tried not to laugh as the parking guy told him “Yeah, you can’t park here”.

Later in the evening my mate and I smuggled Beryl into the paddock under cover of darkness (with a very drunk race senior official who shall remain nameless). She got quite a bit of attention the next day despite far more exotic machinery being around.

Beryl hiding behind friends Mini with a 356 he’s trying to sell.

It’s part of the fun! Did well in the rain today, kept pretty much the same times on a wet track.

Gotta be quicker in the dry then :p
TBH honest I’m not surprised, the tyres looked far better suited for the wet. Although the track was noticeably cooler today and that should have slowed things. Got much faster after playing with a dodgy brake (adjuster had backed out) and playing with the bias valve. Now I need to get my mate to lose the 20lbs he put on last winter!
