Leaking fuel line

#1
Totally lost as to what I can do to fix this problem. I have a bypass line from the fuel tank to an electrical pump that feeds to the carbs. The car is driving and all is good. The new line replaced the yellow/red line which I presume is the reserve line. The reserve line is just hanging from one end (near the fuel tank) and the other end still attached to the reserve tap. The main line, the black one, is still attached and untouched at both ends. The car usually had less the 20ltr while we have been working on it. Yesterday it had 20ltr or slightly more and strangely I have a fuel leak at the open end of the yellow/red line. No fuel is going into it so I can't understand why there is so much fuel coming out of it, dripping away. So help is badly needed as my whole house smells like a Shell station now. Thanks guys.

Sounds like the fuel is going along the main line (now it is over the feed pipe) and going through the reserve tap and seeping into the reserve line, then dripping out the back.

Just block it off with a plug and clip of some sort.

OK that's good then, doesn't sound it's a big problem. I am however very surprised as to how this could be happening, Thx u for the advice.

Hi, the other thing it might be is the excess return line from the carbs is 'T' ed into the reserve
pipe near the tank so it could be that. So either seal it at the tank end or remove and seal the
carb end.

Thinking about it, it would be safer to plug the main line as close to the tank as possible. No sense in having two lines full of fuel, for no reason.

Hi, as suggested, it could be the integrity of the reserve tap is not 100%. So take the tap out
of circuit and connect the two pipe together. As an aside, watch that clear reinforced hose
they go hard with age. Put a hose clip on it for now as well. I think it's truly horrible stuff.

Hi Colin, thx mate. Ok after tinkering and sucking using my mouth, the reserve tap is just fine. That is the main line is working and fuel is coming out from the hose that is attached to the tap. So i now ditched the reinforced white hose as you said too. From the short black hose from the tap I put a fuel filter in, and run another short hose to my electrical pump as I suspect my mechanical pump is out. So this way the electrical pump works better and much less noisier too. So all is good.

My next thing to do is to determine if the mech pump is really not working. I put a fuel line into the pipe near the heater hoses and put another hose from the mech pump and tried sucking the petrol and I had a mouthful of petrol. But when the car runs, no petrol os spewing out. Any idea what else I can do?
