LDV Pilot gearbox (R380) or LT77 17A

That bellhousing looks like a Land Rover unit. They were much longer.
I used my automatic bellhousing for my auto to LT77 swap, and it's still there with the 4 speed/OD Jag box in the car, now.

That is definitely a Landrover V8 bellhousing. The shorter SD1 type has the two bumps/ridges on the top.

May you guys have a look at this offer:

That sounds good, doesn't it?
Seems to be all i need for a conversion, what do you think?

You'll just need an auto prop, which you'll have if your car is an auto, and a manual pedal box and either an SD1 slave cylinder, or a 3500S slave with a 1/4" spacer plate.

My car is a 3500S so i just need the auto prop.
Unfortunatly the seller doesn't sell abroad... ;-(

Damn! So hard to find those things of you are not in the UK.

Buy it, stick it in, look for an R380 while you drive.
I had a 4 cyl box in my V8 and it was fine until the input bearing got too noisy, but in all fairness to the box, it was already tired when fitted, and was treated with little respect......

Thank you guys.
I allways thought the V8 boxes are stronger. Some people claimed that in other forums.

What about the speedo.
This one has a electronic one, and this document: http://www.roverp6.info/5gang.pdf says it should be one with a cable.

I found two offers suitable for me.
This one above,
and a second one on another plattform with all the parts for around 500 GBP.
But i dont have a serial for the second one, it is still in a car (a cobra with 3.5 v8 and the owner knows it is working fine) and will be removed in february

the gearbox is a 19A, suffix b. an early one. richard also drives a B suffix in sparky he once wrote.
what about the bellhousing dirt shield. Do i need a new one or could i use the one from my 3500S?

What clutch should i use with the Lt77?

best regards
Simon

Hi, The only difference between a P6b and SD1 flywheel is the thread of the clutch cover bolts, imperial vs metric.

Which speedo cable to you guys prefer to use to link the LT77 to the Series 2 Speedo?
BTW: My gearbox is ready to ship to Austria now :)

I read once that I can't use the original 4 speed one...

Does RimmerBros offer the right one? I would like to buy it together with the clutch kit to save shipping costs.

Anything else I should think about to buy?

Thanks
Simon

I used the standard 3500S cable, I just needed to open out the end of the outer cable a little as the LT77 driven gear is slightly too big to fit inside, and I had to modify the clamp as the flange on the cable as a bit too small.

The spigot bush is a brass bush which sits in the centre of the flywheel and supports the end of the gearbox input shaft. The P6 one and the LT77 one are very different, as the LT77 (SD1) has a much smaller hole.
