hi,
i am hopefully going to emigrate to australia next year ( perth ). my car a LHD NADA i was told insurance was a lot dearer for LHD, anybody know if this is true or not. i enjoy it as it is, but if the insurance is a lot dearer i would take the parts and convert to RHD, don't want to as it would spoil it's originality, especially as i have now got rid of the efi and am going to put it back to factory with the AED etc. panels are at the painters and the interior has been re-done ( all leather )

I do know that with LHD vehicles on roads here in N.S.W that they are required to wear a large sign attached to the rear of the car indicating this fact. I am unable to say as to whether the situation will be the same in Western Australia. All states and territories within Australia have their own rules and regulations, not just involving cars, and their charges will vary accordingly.

Hi Ian, pm sent with web link re importing and licensing lhd vehicles in western australia, vehicles over 15 yo can remain lhd but need converting to rhd under 15 yo and no need for signage at rear (but was required years ago) one insurance quote so far says no difference for lhd vehicles and quotes range from $319 to $421 for yearly fully comprehensive premium based on garaged 1974 3500 and agreed values range from $3120 to $4000.
