jxc 808d group 2 3.5

That was the reason I supposed too. I have it on Bruiser's lights as a bit of fun. Funny enough we did have a stone hit & break one of the headlights on the 2200 once, we heard it go, so it can happen.

yeh i think youv'e got it right about the tape, rally cars dont have them but i guess when they crash the its not on the racing line and the tyres will be less likely to be punctured by said glass.

My friend put tape on her bike headlamp to go for the cool retro look on a track day and it caused a hotspot which melted the lens  (you cant turn them off on the modern bikes)

I have waking/weeping dreams of being on Overhaulin' with Chip Foose having made my car into one of these :D
I'd consider a body kit if one were available.

No. 806 has the Jag E Type complete rear end. 808 still has the de dion, just not sure which diff.

Chris

Incorrect, this car IS 808 and hase full IRS using Jag E type diff case with fabricated frame, can only assume 806 had de Dion rear, but as many have said there could have been 3 cars
we still have the original Traco/Olds engine, but currently running recreation motor.
As far as can be made out the Nurburgring car ran IRS, and that only one IRS car was built, so it may seem that not a case of which car did what more of which car with which registration
it is thought this car did go down under but aslo went to the states, the coupe camel car is based on a different shell being a 3500 I think, 808 started life as auto test car and a 2000 shell
development for the 3500 shell.

Apart from looking good, what is the actual reason for the tape on the headlights? Modern racing cars such as the V8 Supercars (Holden and Ford V8s) in Australia don't have such applied, but I suspect it was a period thing, and used as a measure to prevent glass from falling on the track in the event of a breakage.

That is a top pic tolson!!

Ron.

Hey Ron,

yes, glass on a track is not good. We usually ask control if we can go and sweep it off the circuit between classes coming out.

Droool! awseng, do you have any plans to race this beautiful beast over here in continental Europe? I would be thrilled to see this magnificent machine being driven on a racetrack. Where can I find out more about the recent and future exploits of this car? I won't be able to come and see it next weekend in the UK, that's for sure, but if I manage to get my P6 3500 project back on the roads this spring I would certainly think about making my way to a race event in the UK where you might be competing. I would like to drive my completed restoration back to Blighty and attend at least one big Rover meeting/classic car show this year, perhaps the two could be combined, or planned into a short motoring holiday around the British Isles?

it is hoped that the car may make a couple of outings this year, maybe in europe I will keep you posted

Having been asked thought I would post to let others who may be interested know.
Plan so far
9 June testing Silverstone depending on result of testing maybe
Race 23/24 June Silverstone
