i've been reading things about it where ever i could find them since as far back as i can remember i first saw it in a book about the history of the rover v8 its 4.3 (or 4.5 depending on where you read) litres of pure smash your face in. i love it.
here she is back in the day or it could be an early jxc 806d sister car

That is just awesome! I like it better in blue I think.
I've got a couple of period articles on 806 from when it came to NZ to race in 1971.

 :!:
I'd buy a set of those flared wings and widened rear door skins if they were reproduced and made available!
Tolson2000sc, do you have any information about who owns this car, and/or where and when it might be being raced. I'd very much like to see it getting used "in anger", and if you had some places and dates I'd be able to plan a visit to a racetrack where I might see it.

mark from the p6 rover owners club seemed to know more about its current owner than me so he may be a better port of call than me. i will try find out where and when its being raced as i would like to go see it too.... alot. i was gutted when it went to america and knowing 806 was in nz i thought there would never be much chance of me seeing it now im happy again.

if there is alot of interest in the flaired arches and doors i know a fiberglasser but there would need to be alot of interest in order to fund the mould.

Well thereby hangs a very long tail. The short answer is yes, as near as anybody can tell. It does appear that there were more of these cars than just the two registration plates might suggest. At one stage there was an intention to build a homologation run and it looks as if work had actually started before the plug was pulled. So there is an element of confusion right back in BL days as to which car went where, wearing which registration plate. There could even have been three in running order simultaneously at one point. What is certain is that there were only two full house engines. And this car owns one of them. I understand, although I've not yet had a chat with the owner, that he is actually running a replica engine currently, on the grounds that the original engine is too precious to race.

Apart from looking good, what is the actual reason for the tape on the headlights? Modern racing cars such as the V8 Supercars (Holden and Ford V8s) in Australia don't have such applied, but I suspect it was a period thing, and used as a measure to prevent glass from falling on the track in the event of a breakage.

That is a top pic tolson!!

Ron.
