Joint Rover Clubs meeting

Officials of The Joint Rover Clubs (representatives of The Rover P4 Guild, The Rover P5 Club, The Rover P6 Club, the SD1 Club and the RSR), met today at Gaydon. First one of these meetings I've been able to get to personally, and really excellent it was too.

Lots of good dialogue and excellent ideas discussed. Just a couple of advanced dates for your diary:

On August 21st 2011 (provisionally) The Spen King Tribute Run will be taking place again, finishing again at Gaydon, where this time we will be having a large JRC (all Clubs) gathering of old Rovers. Should be one to savour. We'll make sure our brethren with the 200's/400's/600's/800's and 75's are in the loop for this one as well.

After a highly successful and well attended 2010 event, The Rover P6 Club National Rally now looks, again provisionally, to be the weekend of 3rd/4th September, in a central location. There will be a dinner on the Saturday night. More details to follow.

Cheers
Nick

Hi Dave
With regards to the JRC, the P6ROC were invited to get involved at the same time as the RP6C and that was Nov 2008.
The first meeting I attended on behalf of the RP6C was also attended by the then Chairman Paul Smith and one other committee member Steve Dent, of the P6ROC, and that was in Feb 2009.

The following meeting was in Nov 2009 and the P6ROC were invited to attend again, but the then remaining committee declined the invitation. That action lead to a review of the invitation which was subsequently withdrawn by the other members of the JRC in Feb 2010 because of the change in structure of the club to a sole trader business with no committee.

The JRC meetings are a forum to enhance the club scene by promoting and protecting the Rover Marque, with a view to encouraging the use of classic Rover cars through the clubs and their members.
Examples of things that the JRC are looking to combine with a view to making more cost effective for the member clubs and therefore the individual members, include Public Liability Insurance, magazine production, regalia options, spares coordination, events and special joint events.

These are the things that individual clubs have to monitor to maintain a successful exsistance, especially through these tough economic times, afterall Public Liability Insurance costs alone rise year on year along with magazine costs and the costs of putting on events like National Rallies.
