Hi members - just joined and been approved! Been reading for some time and such great advise and help - hopefully I can assist here n there too! Dave

Sorry I meant to attach a pic or 2 of my 1975 Rover 3500s which I have owned for 8 years now and has been a ‘challenge’ with first 4-5 years beset with problems that stopped it getting used - until 2020 when I started to really bite bullet and get things sorted system by system -brakes, suspension, welding, engine rebuild (SD1 block vitesse heads), cooling, electrics, heater matrix and heater box refurb, replacement LT77 5 speed (old one D series needs overhaul - C series TR7 box fitted and runs really well), new door cards, - the list is endless to be honest! Currently doing a winter interior refurb so have stripped out interior cleaned and treated floor and door sills (no rot just lots surface rust) it had new sills/floor, rear inner wheel arches plus plus plus between the 1980s and then during a bigger refurb in 2011). Now sorting the new stick on sound proofer (Dodo Mat Deadn pro sound deadening sheets not cheap but came well recommended) time consuming work but great job. Then new carpets from Tech Autos champagne beige, and finally refitting my original box pleat Buck skin seats that are currently being repaired and lightly refurbished. I had them stored 8 years now awaiting refitting - I got a set of really good leather retrimed Buck skin series one seats with car as extra so these will be sold to help pay for some this work! I have read many threads on many P6 subjects and it’s all been so helpful!

Hi Dave,
Great colour! The first few years of owning an old car is almost always like that. I find now that my car is pretty reliable (especially considering what I put it through!). Having said that a rear wheel bearing replacement looms.

The LT77 conversion is a good call. Unfortunately not as easy on the 4 cylinder cars such as mine.

Welcome to the forum!

Many thanks!

Agree re 1st years of ownership! I naively thought that I was buying a fairly well sorted example, but failed to apply due diligence and paid the price! That said there is certainly the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes with resolving and improving the car. It’s good to be hands on!

Absolutely! My car had sat in a garage for a few years before I got it. When I finally got the engine running it was borderline dangerous. Not from worn components so much as poor repair work done before!

Hello Dave, I see your in Surrey. I am as well. If you need anything then give me a shout. It would be good to see your car as well.

Hi Alan. Just back from a Christmas break in Ireland - returned with a dose flu - so much nasty stuff about.. Yes in Surrey Woking area (Ripley). My interior refurb progressed on lead up to Christmas got all floors cleaned and treated before putting the sound deadening Dodo sheets down. Both sides of car previously had new sills welded in as well as other panels and repairs so it’s all solid and ready for new carpets. I have electrical bits to do first though - Relays for certain circuits Inc fuel pump and electronic ignition (from SD1) and some previous dodgy use of scotch clips to sort! So defo hook up am always looking to learn more about P6 stuff! Happy new year with plenty of Rovering all!
