Introducing Eve

Thanks Harvey. I know with all the other upgrades I am doing I shouldn't, but I had felt a little naughty putting Ser1 bits on a Ser2. Now you tell me that I am not cross contaminating the 2, only going a little earlier in the Ser2 life time, I feel a lot better!

Thanks Mike, it does look like it belongs doesn't it :)
I believe it's the third break light from the Jaguar XK8 convertible, but it was fitted when I bought the boot.
You should be able to get one from a Jaguar breaker or you could risk asking a dealer what they would charge!

That is very large el fan you have put in there. Does it interfere with your front valance or have you found a really narrow one. It looks good !
Regards, Barten

Hi Barten, it wasn't the fan which was the problem. It is a tight fit, but goes in :)
The problem was the oil coolers. Originally there was going to be one large one, but that didn't fit. So we went for two smaller ones in series. Hopefully with the two it will keep the zf box happy. I have swapped the auto rad (with tiny cooler) for a manual one, so as to get maximum efficiency.

That fan looks about the size mine is . Ive got an a/c model so may have a larger unit.

Hi there, great work in progress.
I like the brake light on the boot lid, where did you find that and the cost? I was thinking of installing one inside on the parcel shelf, but yours looks much nicer :)

Or a late series 1..
It could only be a Series 1 and a half, as the Series 1 had the small "Rover" letters above the numberplate plinth, not the large ones in the lower left corner, and the Series 1 and a half looked the same as the Series 2 externally, and ask anyone who owns one they'll always tell you it's a Series 2..

I have one, parked in my driveway. It's a series 1 to me, as it doesn't have the round-dial dash, doesn't have the egg crate grille, and doesn't have the stupid s2 bonnet.

Any bootlid could have been fitted in the 45+ years since the car was built.

Or a late series 1..

Just looked at this again, and it's definitely not as it left the factory, because the reflectors in the boot corners would place it as Series 1, but the large ROVER letters in the lower left corner are early Series 2, so although I'm not 100% correct, neither are you, at best we're both half right.

Like I said before, in the 40 years plus since the cars were made, all sorts of things get changed over, and this is a good case in point.

I beg to differ, my Series 1 (they didn't tell me there was a new model coming when I bought it in August 1970) UK reg PXC 182J has the Rover lettering as described. So although in all other respects "EVE" is a Series 2, the bootlid appears to be pure Series 1 apart from the brake light.
I believe the small central lettering was on the 2000. Unfortunately the Three Thousand Five brochure does not have a view of the rear.
