intermittent fuel starvation on my 76 P6B 3500

My car has now developed a intermittent fuel starvation problem where it suddenly loses power as though running out of fuel. Fuel tank approx. 5/8 full & using normal supply point from tank - change quickly to reserve & power restored then after say 30 secs can change back to normal supply point & continue driving until it happened again after a couple of minutes. Again power restored once on reserve & the back to normal supply & full power.
Any ideas on possible cause / remedy?

Intermittant blockage in the main line between the tank and the reserve tap. I'd blow back though the line as a first step.
