Inhibitor Switch

I have a problem where the car will only start in neutral. Could this be down to adjustment of the switch or gear lever. Any ideas welcome.

You shouldn't be able to start the car in anything other than neutral? It means the switch is working. :)

Ahh, you had me confuzzled there LOL.

Could just be dirty, or need a bit of adjustment. Can you get to it? I haven't had an auto for a while, so am not sure where the switch is.

It could be either linkage or switch adjustment. Start by disconnecting the drop link from the selector lever on the box, putting both the box and the gearlever into PARK, and adjust the drop link to suit. There is a certain amount of over travel on the selector lever to enable the correct adjustment. If that doesn't work move on to the switch adjustment.

Thanks Harvey will give this a go. The lever seems to go a long way forward to go into park and I am not sure it actually locks.

Thanks will try both. Slowly sorting the niggles.
