the indicators on my p6 flash slow when at idle and speed up when the revs increase anybody any ideas whats causing this
cheers steve

My 1973 V8 did that when I first go it -they stopped flashing at tickover. A new flasher unit ( under the dash by OSF A post) was the answer for me

I have the same problem on mine I have checked all earth connections,Alternater O.K.I swapped the hazard unit over with the indicator unit and the indicators work ok with that unit but the hazards do not work with the unit that was on the indicators.I suspect I have the inccorect unit on the indicators which is a Lucas 8FL TYPE 36 12V the one on the hazards is 9FL TYPE 36 12V.The question is should indicators and hazards use both the same type if so which one???

Thanks ???

I would think they are different because the indicators are 2 21 watt bulbs but the hazaed flashers are 4 21 watt bulbs . However a modern replacement might not be current sensitive
I know a new unit solved my problem and I'm still using the same alteranator which does not charge below 1000 revs . The charging light comes on . I don't know if that's normal, I don't recall other cars with alternators doing the same

My indicators did exactly the same thing for a while (slow on idle, fast when moving) and then they packed up (on a roundabout on a right turn - handy!). The flasher unit was at fault either no flash, lights permanately on or a light show more like a disco.

I tried contact cleaner, bit of emery cloth, it helped but the unit was too temperamental. I drove over to Halfords with the rating (12v 2 x 21W + 5W) and found a two contact flasher unit more by luck than chance.

Bingo... all sorted.

I think it was meant to be for some Hyundai. I now have very Japanese sounding indicators.
