In Tank Fuel Sender

had the tank out today cos the fuel gauge was not registering, on removal of the sender i tested continuity with a 12volt bulb , and found the wire was not connecting to the rheostat but was getting to the input pin , i wound a small copper wire round the pin tight as i could and then stuffed the other end under the coils on the rheostat Hey presto we have a connection .the wire would not solder easily so i used a tiny ammount of petrol tank putty to try and hold it in place, my thought was that even if i get a spark if it ever moves it wont cause a BOOM cos there wont be enough air in the tank to allow ignition. watch this space ....... tank back in and fuel gauge behaving as it should.
