i'm losing brake fluid

i've notice i'm losing fluid from somewhere not sure where! toped up the resvoir couple of weeks ago and it's lost over half ,after only being driven a couple of times, any ideas where to look or how to investigate further? or any common faults? there is also a light on the dash (brake) assuming this is related

Hi, The light on the dash is telling you the fluid level in the reservoir is low and you will probably find the lost fluid in the brake servo, but check all the brake lines and connections for dampness as well.

If there are no leakage at the brake lines, as Colin says it could well be the servo having an internal leak. Eventually the engine will start burning the brake fluid and the brakes pedal pressure will increase, lack of boost.

At that rate of loss i think that it is a problem with the rear calipers, not the servo.

Also worth checking the brake master as they don't always leak into footwell they can leak into the bulkhead section behind pedal box.
If you have not got any history of it being replaced recently then just replace it anyway it's just not worth taking the chance as most p6s are single line systems with no backup!
Clive.

A single booster can hold a couple of litres of brake fluid in the front vacuum chamber, it would be my first guess on a massive fluid leak. Next guess would be the master, as Clive says they can leak into the base unit with little evidence to be found. And then the rear calipers.

Vern
