If you could buy a new P6B in 2017-18

It doesn't address the thread title but I would be very happy if my old series 2 V8's dash could be had in a modern car. I can't really think of any car I've driven since that has a more easily readable display, especially at night (referring to dials, not switches).

I find some modern 'executive' cars try and incorporate so much information that the really necessary information isn't always easy to decipher without taking your eyes off the road.

Those instruments are the best I’ve seen in any car, bar none. Reminiscent of an aircraft somehow, and absolutely in tune with the feel of the car.

I have always found the series 2 dash to be a very beautiful thing, functional and aesthetically pleasing, There maybe nicer ones such as can be had in some of the upscale Jag and RR and Vanden Plas cars but they are not modern but rather of a style of a bygone era.

Yes but for that vehicle there is little parentage with the Rover cars ie 75 lineage, should have grabbed a photo :(

I understand what you mean, and much as i like the 75s, the Rowe (or something like that) 750 is already at the end of its road. The next model will have no parentage links and only the caricature of the name will remain.

I always thought of Rover and Land Rover being the same company, despite what have happened in the recent years, so something made in Solihull bearing the name Rover will be sort of like the return of the prodigal son.

We can only hope.

I dont think the book is quite closed on the Chinese connection with the direct linkage to the UK based designed team, murky as those connections may become. Yeah I wish the Landrover connection would blossom to include the previous Rover road cars, the current situation could hardly get more bizarre than it already is.

Although there’s no sense looking back, the current situation is lamentable. We let our last major manufacturer slip through our fingers, rather than address the issues and bring out some great new models. I know there were lots of issues, not least public perception of the brand, but surely these could have been resolved? Ah well, the past is the past...
