ICI Paint Codes 1974-83 Rover Cars & Land Rover

Just thought it may be of use to someone if I put the Rover, Land / Range Rover colour chips from ICI on here.
I don't have any prior to 1974.

Any colour discrepancy is caused by my scanner. They are all a perfect match to the original colours stated on the cars, and I have used them myself many times.

In the 1975 section, which car used beige/sand? Could it be the P6 brown sill colour? (To go with the huntsman roof).

One late P6 colour that is missing from these chips is Pendelican (White) which was used on the late P6 and early SD1 cars.

Pendelican is BLVC215
As far as the P6 is concerned it is Rover paint code NCF
ICI code DD27.

Also note that the name MONZA RED was used twice.
For the P6 we use VC287, Rover code CCB, ICI code 8930.
The other one is a 1981 colour and is a different shade.

Could those different codes be due to the differing paint processes at different plants? We know the SD1 plant that applied Pendelican was very special....

A very good question.

I think the beige/sand was a Land Rover colour, and to my eye is perhaps too light for the Huntsman coordinated sills, but I could be wrong.

It's not something I have ever really studied, but hopefully someone on here will know for sure.
I thought the sills were painted Tobacco Leaf on all cars with a Huntsman roof?. Years ago I had a 1975 Mexico Brown 'S' with Huntsman roof, and the sills on that looked like Tobacco Leaf to me, but then again I have seen Tobacco Leaf cars with Huntsman, and seen sills matching the body colour, and those that looked more Mexico Brown!.

I have used maple brown which is a rover colour for my sills which I think is a good match for my huntsman, pic for ref;

Huntsman brown is listed in the ICI books as RM17 Can't remember if it's right, been a while since I used it :|

think the problem, as reported previously, is that there are a number of different "huntsmans". So Maple could well be OK for one and not for another.

I think that tobacco leaf is a little light for the sill colours. Ive seen sills in reddish browns, mexico and tobacco leaf but the maple colour looks spot on to me. Thanks V8 guy, will order some for the estate.

badrover,
Halfords do it ready mixed in a spray can or you can get in a tin for spraying with a gun ( they can mix it while you wait ) :D

www.martinbrownpaints.net are excellent at matching all colours and very accommodating, you can even send a sample to them and they will match it and can put any colour in an aerosol. Well worth contacting them when you're in need of some paint.

I have a 1972 P6 2000, Which I believe is Monza Red, I need to refurbish the seats, but I do not have the colour, it is some sort of ivory or cream, there is no colour code in my manual, so if anyone can come up with an answer I would appreciate it
As I have to do a bit of repair work on deep creases etc, is there a member who has knowledge of, or used a system. I have seen many on the web, and am now totaly baffled
regards

Hi BSKPLoft100. You might be better off posting your question in a brand new thread, titled perhaps 'What product is best to recondition leather seats?' Sorry, I haven't got any tips regarding which leather rejuvenation products work best.

will that be the same Monza red as for our cars then. I notice its a 1981 chart and the red looks very dark but like you say when scanned its not going to be accurate. Were there more than one Monza red

Just got some paint for our new project. Cameron Green. Like a racing green. Code for ordering is HCA or HCA628. This is on 1971 car but believe it was on till the end?
