Anyone fitted a pair of HS8 SU's to their car ?
I am going to try a pair and wondered how folks sorted out a manual choke set up ?

Thanks

Ask roveralex, he did but did not connect the choke as far as i know.

Mine arrived a few days ago, but need to be cleaned and rebuilt first

Thanks
I knew that he fitted a pair, and did think that the choke may have been an issue.
I can connect a cable to drop one of the jets, but getting a fast idle set up is probably the stumbling point.
My car wont start without choke but will run without it after a couple of minutes, so its no big deal to keep the throttle open whilst its warming.
I know that SC parts do a manual choke conversion with all the links and twin cables for the HS8, but at over 300 quid they can keep it.

Do you also run on HS8?
It is interessting to read about that choke issue, as far as i have this problems to solve either during my conversion this winter

Do you also run on HS8?
I am fitting a pair to an SU manifold in order to run on a 4.6. I want to prove the engine in the car before then possibly modifying the car to take other induction set up's and the easiest way is to make HS8's a bolt on application, then if I get issues with the new engine I can throw the old one back in quickly.
But also if the HS8's work out then I can keep and refine them.
I think I will run the existing choke cable to just one of the HS8 carbs, I am sure that will be enough to start it.

For anyone that wants to fit a pair of HS8s lifted from a 2000TC, he also needs the complete 2000 TC cable set up, where the single cable comming from inside the cabin is split into two cables that connect to the two carbs. You will probably need to fit new twin cables in order to accomodate the different lengths required for a V8 setup, but this is something relatively simple.

Hi all
The HS8's on my series one three thousand five are worn and need an overhaul (they leak air!). So should I have them overhauled, consider fitting throttle body injection, change to another sort of carb or what are peoples' opinions? I also run the car on LPG through a BLOS carburettor. Any thoughts appreciated.

That's the same as the one fitted to my P5B, fitted when we binned the AED. Pretty worn now but Harvey's already bullied me into fitting Hif6's so no matter.
Great to know it worked for someone else. Had 0.030" taken off my manifold faces and can now get on with port matching to heads and get the HS8 carbs fitted.
